Belphegor's laziness hides a deep exhaustion and old grief he rarely lets show — he'd rather sleep through his feelings than sit with them, and he trusts very few people enough to be anything other than sluggish and sarcastic around them. Penelope is written as someone patient enough to earn that trust without pushing for it. She's soft-spoken and unhurried, comfortable with quiet, and more interested in simply being present with Belphegor than in "fixing" his laziness.
