Description
Save File with Sims out of the Grimms Fairytales Books. This save file includes medieval castles, houses and fits perfect for historical gameplay.
A few things beforehand

Below you will find the abridged version of the fairy tales; however, I have omitted some very gruesome details to keep the page suitable for children.

I used almost all the packs in the save file. Becouse I started this save file before I bought the Royalty pack, there is also a version without this pack.

In the world of the Royalty pack I did change almost nothing but addet two nobel families as parent houses from some heros.

In the save file you will find some small starter cabins if you want to create your own Sim.
-
This save file fits also good to my historic challenge with the Sims through history if you start at the inventions in the middle ages
These fairy tales are included:
The Goose Girl

Once upon a time, there lived a widowed queen, she sent her daughter with the talking horse Falada and the maid to to another kingdom to marry the prince. During the journey, the bride bathed in the river, and the maid took her clothes. The maid forced the princess to wear the maid's clothes and swear not to tell on her.
Upon arriving at Willow Creek, the king sent the supposed maid to tend geese with the boy Kürdchen. The prince married the common maid. Her first act was to kill the horse so it couldn't tell on her; she hung the horse's head on the castle gate. The blue-blooded maid spoke daily with the horse's head, which they greet with virgin princess. She told the horse about her suffering. In the meadow, she was combing her long blond hair. Kürdchen tried to pull some of her hair out, but she cast a spell, causing the wind to blow his hat away, and he had to chase after it. By the time he returned, her hair was finished. Kürdchen told the king about this, and he questioned the blue-blooded maid, but she kept her promise and remained silent. However, the king overheard her, when she told Falada her suffering. The king then asks the false bride what the just punishment would be for a maid who impersonates a queen. This punishment then becomes her own. Now the prince can marry the real princess.

Play as the Goose Girl. If you have 100% friendship with the King and 100% with the Prince...romantic, you may remove the false maid, marry the prince, and then live happily ever after.
Table, set yourself

Once upon a time, there was a tailor, he had three sons and a Goat. The goat was important because it gave milk. Every day, one of the sons had to lead the goat to a good pasture; only the best herbs were good enough. One day, one of the sons went to the pasture with the goat, and after a while, he asked it if it was full, and it answered..."I'm so full, I can't eat another leaf: baa! baa!" That's how the son brought the goat home. At home, the father asked the goat if it was full, but it lied and claimed it hadn't eaten anything. Thereupon, the father chased this son out of the house. One by one, the same thing happened with the other sons. Only when the father had to take the goat to pasture himself did he realize the goat's lie and chase it away.
The sons began apprenticeships with a carpenter, a miller, and a turner. After completing their apprenticeships, the eldest received an unassuming table that, with the saying "Table, set yourself!", magically laden with delicious food. The middle son received a donkey that, at the command "Bricklebrit!", excreted gold coins from both ends. The youngest received a club in a sack from his master, which, with the command "Club out of the sack!", beat up opponents until the command "Club in the sack!" was stopped.
The first two sons, on their way home, each passed an inn and stayed there for the night. The mean innkeeper swapped their magical items for ordinary ones. The father took the sons back and apologized. However, it was a disgrace when the sons wanted to show off the table and donkey, and of course, nothing happened. The two warned their younger brother about the innkeeper.
When the innkeeper then tried to steal the youngest boy's sack, the club was used and the son got the table and the donkey.
There was great joy when this son came home with his rewards.

In the save file you will find about this fairy tale:
The Schneider Inn in Willow Creek. The youngest son is the innkeeper there. In the fairy tale, he goes home. But I thought he would make an excellent innkeeper. The tailor and his two other sons are in Windenburg.

Rapunzel

Once upon a time, there lived a married couple who had longed for a baby. When the wife finally became pregnant, they were overjoyed. However, the woman had a a craving for lamb's lettuce (German name is Rapunzel), which only grew in the garden of the neighboring sorceress. She ate nothing else and became ill. So the man climbed over the fence to steal the lettuce. But he was caught and after his begging she allowed him to take so much he could take, but he had to bring her the child after the birth.
The sorceress named the child Rapunzel and, after her 12th birthday, locked her in a tower without a door. The tower had only one window, from which Rapunzel threw her hair, to the magician calling “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, throw down your hair!”. Then the sorceress climbed up her hair to the window.
Several years later, a prince rode by and heard Rapunzel's wonderful singing. He found the tower, but not the entrance. He often came back to listen to the singing, and one day he observed the sorceress and how she called, "Rapunzel,Rapunzel throw, throw down your hair" into the tower. When Rapunzel was alone again, he too called out, "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, throw down your hair!" RapunzelI thought it would be the sorceress and did so. The prince climbed into the tower. The two fell in love and married secretly. During the day, Rapunzel was visited by the sorceress, and at night by her husband. He brought her silk every time with which she wanted to build a ladder so she could escape from the tower. But the sorceress caught her, cut off Rapunzel's hair, and banished her to the wilderness. When the prince appeared that evening and called for the hair, the sorceress lowered the severed braid, and the prince climbed into the tower. There, to his horror, he saw the sorceress and was told that he would never see Rapunzel again. In despair, the prince threw himself out of the window and landed on a thorn bush, surviving but becoming blinded. Rapunzel gave birth to twins in the wilderness. The blind prince wandered through the desolate landscape until he heard a familiar song. Following the sound, he met Rapunzel and the children. Rapunzel embraced him joyfully and wept tears of happiness; the tears fell into his eyes, thus healing his blindness.

Move with Rapunzel to an empty lot and try to survive. Find a prince and get married!

King Drosselbart

Once upon a time, there lived a princess who rejected every marriage proposal and mocked the suitors. She was especially cruel to the king Drosselbart, with his crooked chin. One day, her father became so angry that he gave her up as a bride to the next begging minstrel. He led her home, past magnificent buildings. When the bride learned that this rich kingdom belonged to king Drosselbart, she regretted how cruel she had been to him and not married him. In the minstrel's small cottage, she had no maid and had to work. However, she had never learned to braid or spin and was scolded for her incompetence. So she sold crockery at the market, but a supposedly drunken hussar shattered her crockery as he rode by. Her husband scolded her and sent her to the castle as a kitchen maid, so that she could at least bring home leftovers. At the king's wedding, she wanted to watch, but the king pulled her onto the dance floor. While doing so, she dropped the stolen food scraps on the floor. She tried to escape, but was caught by the king, who then revealed himself to be her husband. To punish her for their wickedness, he disguised himself as a minstrel and a hussar. They celebrated their wedding, and if they haven't died, they are still living today.

Snow White and Rose Red

Once upon a time, there lived a woman who had two daughters who resembled the rose bushes in her garden, so she named them Snow White and Rose Red. The girls often played in the woods and were hardly afraid of the animals. One day, a bear came to her house, for shelter. At first they were afraid, but they quickly got used to the bear and even played with him. When it got to be too much for him, he growled."LetKeep me alive, you children. Snow White, Rose Red, I'll kill your suitor." In spring, the bear said goodbye to guard his treasures. At go out he pulled at his fur a little, and it seemed as if gold shone through. As usual, the girls were playing in the woods again and encountered a dwarf there three times, whom they each time helped out, once his beard was caught on a fishing line, then on a tree, and then a bird of prey tried to carry it off. Each time they helped him and received only ingratitude. Instead of thanking them, he insulted them because they damaged his beard and clothes. The fourth time they encountered the dwarf, they caught him with a pile of precious crystals. The dwarf became very angry. But then the bear came and killed the dwarf. Afterward, the bear transformed back into a prince. He explained to the astonished girls that the dwarf had stolen his precious stones and turned him into a bear. Later, Snow White married the prince, and Rose Red married his brother, and if they haven't died, they are still living today.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Once upon a time, there lived a queen. One winter, while embroidering, she pricked her finger, and a drop of blood fell onto the snow by the window. She sighed, "If only I had a child as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as the wood of the frame!" Her wish came true, and a few months later she gave birth to a daughter. The princess was named Snow White because her lips were as red as blood, her cheeks as white as snow, and her hair as black as ebony. Sadly, the queen died in childbirth. Soon after, the king married another beautiful woman, who was also a wicked witch. Moreover, the stepmother was very vain and every day asked her magic mirror, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" For seven years, the mirror answered, "You, Queen, are the fairest woman in the land." But then, suddenly, came the reply: "Queen, you are the fairest here, but Snow White is a thousand times fairer than you." Filled with anger and envy, she summoned the huntsman to take Snow White into the forest and kill her. As proof, he was to bring her the girl's lungs and liver. As ordered, the huntsman took the girl into the forest, but when he took out his knife, Snow White begged so bitterly that he could not kill her. So he let her go and brought the queen the liver and lungs of a deer, which the queen then ate.
Meanwhile, Snow White ran crying through the forest over seven mountains until she finally came to a small cottage. No one was home, so she went inside. There was a table set for seven people, and she was so hungry that she helped herself to food from every plate and cup. The princess was also very tired, so she tried all seven beds until she finally fell asleep in one. When the cottagers returned, the seven dwarfs saw that someone had eaten their food and slept in their bed and then found the sleeping child. When they saw the princess's beauty, all anger vanished and it was decided that she could stay if she did housework. The dwarves always went to the ore mine during the day, and Snow White worked in the house and garden. The dwarves, who now knew her story, warned her not to let anyone into the house.
In the royal palace, the queen again asked her mirror, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" to which the mirror replied, "You, Your Majesty, are the fairest here, but Snow White beyond the seven mountains, with the seven dwarfs, is a thousand times fairer than you." The queen grew furious and decided to get rid of the girl herself. She disguised herself as an old, ugly merchant woman. First, she tried to kill the girl with a lace that nearly suffocated her, then with a poisoned comb. Both times, the dwarfs were able to save Snow White by removing the objects. But on the third attempt, the supposed merchant woman offered Snow White an apple. Snow White choked on the apple and fell to the ground. This time, the dwarfs could not help her, as they not saw what had happened. But because the princess was so beautiful, they brought it not about themself to bury her and built her a glass coffin, which they placed in the forest. Even the animals wept over the girl's death. The dwarves took turns guarding the coffin.
Meanwhile, the queen again asks her mirror, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" To which it replies, "You, Your Majesty, are the fairest."most beautiful through out the country.”
For a long time, Snow White lay in her coffin in the forest. But one day, a prince rode by and fell in love with the beauty. He asked the dwarves if he could take Snow White with him in her coffin, as he could no longer live without her. Out of pity, the dwarves granted his wish. The prince's servants carried the coffin to the castle, but one of them tripped, and the coffin fell to the ground. The impact caused the piece of apple to fall from Snow White's throat, and she awoke. Soon after, a wedding was held, to which the wicked stepmother was also invited. But she did not leave the castle alive. Snow White and the prince were married, and if they haven't died, they are still living today.

The Frog Prince

Once upon a time, there lived a princess with a golden ball. While playing, she dropped her beloved ball into the well. She wept bitterly, and then a frog came and offered to retrieve the ball for her if she promised to be his friend and share her bed and plate. She gave her word and received the ball back. She left the frog behind, breaking her promise, and went home. But the frog knocked on the castle door and demanded that the promise be kept. The king insisted his daughter keep her promise, and so she had to eat from the same plate as the frog. When he then wanted to sleep in her bed, she was so disgusted by the slimy, ugly frog that she threw him against the wall. The frog then transformed into a prince. He was bewitched.and now redeemed.The two got married and if they haven't died, they are still alive today.

Hansel and Gretel

Once upon a time, there lived a poor man in the forest with his wife and children, Hansel and Gretel. A famine struck, and when their food was almost gone, the wife persuaded her husband to abandon the children in the woods. In desperation, the father led the children into the forest and left them there. The evening before, Hansel had overheard his parents talking, and he dropped white stones on the ground along the path into the forest. The stones shone in the moonlight, and so the children found their way back. The next day, the father took the children into the forest again. Hansel had a piece of bread in his pocket and dropped pieces of bread on the ground to find his way back, but birds pecked up the bread. The children wandered through the dense forest until, on the third day, they found a hut. The hut was made of bread, sugar, and cake. The starving children broke off pieces of the house and ate the treats. But living in the hut was an old, nearly blind witch who loved to eat people. She heard the children and called out: “Nibble, nibble, little house, who’s nibbling at my little house?” To which Gretel replied: “The wind, the wind, the heavenly child.” But the witch caught the children and locked Hansel in a cage to fatten him up, while Gretel had to work as a servant. To test if Hansel now was fat enough to cook with, the witch felt his finger through the cage every day, but Gretel always held out a small bone. Eventually, the witch grew impatient and ordert Gretel to light the stove. The witch ordered her to look inside the stove to see if it was hot enough, but Gretel explained that she was too small to reach the chimney, so the witch had to look herself. When the witch looked inside the stove, Gretel pushed her in. Gretel freed her brother, and they found treasures in the house. When they arrived home with the treasures, they were welcomed by their father. The mother have since passed away. They never had to go hungry again, and if they haven't died, they are still alive today.

Cinderella

Once upon a time, there lived a wealthy family with one daughter. On her deathbed, the mother asked her daughter to plant a small tree on her grave, so she could shake it whenever she had a wish. The daughter planted the tree as requested. Two years later, the father remarried a widow with two daughters. The stepmother and her daughters were very cruel to the girl and made her sleep in the ashes next to the stove in the kitchen, which earned her the name Cinderella. They also made Cinderella do all the chores she disliked. One day, they received news of a three-day ball at the castle. Cinderella was then made to help with the preparations for her stepsisters. Instead of being allowed to go to the ball herself, she was given a bowl of lentils to sort through; then she, too, would be allowed to attend. While she was doing this, two doves flew to her and asked if they could help. Cinderella happily agreed: "The bad ones go in the crop, the good ones in the pot!" The work was completed more quickly, and she even had time to climb into the dovecote to watch her stepsisters dance. The next day, when the sisters heard about the doves' help, they had the dovecote torn down. That day, Cinderella received a bowl to sort through, this time full of sweet peas. Once again, the doves came to her aid and advised her to shake the little tree at her mother's grave and wish for a ball gown. However, they also warned the girl to be home by midnight. Cinderella shook the tree, saying, "Little tree, shake and quiver, throw down beautiful clothes for me!" and was rewarded with a ball gown and shoes. As she left the cemetery, a carriage was waiting to take her to the ball. The prince greeted her and assumed she was a foreign princess. Her stepsisters didn't recognize her, but were annoyed that the prince gave her his attention. Before midnight, Cinderella left the ball and placed the clothes on the grave. The next day, another bowl was brought to her to sort through. But again, the doves helped her sort the peas. This time too, she received a dress and shoes at the grave, and a carriage took her to the castle. The prince danced with her, but to prevent her from running away from him again, he had ordered that the stairs to be smeared with tar. While dancing, Cinderella lost track of time and was only reminded of the doves' warning by the sound of the bell. She quickly ran from the castle, whereuponone her shoe got stuck in the pitch. The prince announced he would marry the woman the shoe fit. He set off with the shoe to find her and also stopped at Cinderella's house. The stepsisters tried to slip into the shoe, and one cut off her toe and the other her heel. But as they left the house, the doves called out, "Rucke di guck, rucke di guck! Blood is in the shoe. The shoe is too small, the real bride is still at home." Cinderella, on the other hand, found the shoe fit well, and so she was brought to the castle as the real bride for the wedding, and if they haven't died, they are still living today.

Play as Cinderella; there's a ballroom in Windenburg. Go to the ball there to meet the prince and marry him. Maybe give him glasses if he can't tell the difference between the stepsisters and Cinderella!
Mother Holle

Once upon a time, there lived a wicked stepmother who made her stepdaughter spin at the well every day until her fingers bled, while her own daughter was allowed to be lazy. When the child was cleaning the spindle in the well, it fell into the water. The stepmother ordered her to jump into the well to retrieve it. The girl jumped in and awoke in a meadow. There, she was asked by talking bread to take it out of the oven and by talking trees to pick the apples, and she complied with both requests. Then she came to the house of Mother Holle. The woman took her in, and the girl diligently helped her with the housework. Every day, she shook out the beds, which made it snow in the world. After some time, she became homesick and was led through a gate by Mother Holle. Gold fell on Mariechen through the gate, and she also got her spindle back. At home, she told what had happened, whereupon the stepmother sent her own daughter into the well. The girl ignored the bread and the apple trees, who also asked her for help. In Mother Holle's house, she was lazy. After she asked to go home, she too was led through the gate, but bad luck fell upon her and stuck to her forever.

The fisherman and his wife
Once upon a time, there lived a poor fisherman and his wife. One day, he caught a flounder who begged to be set free, claiming to be an enchanted prince. The fisherman let the fish off the hook. When his wife heard this, she was angry that he hadn't made a wish. So she tricked her husband into calling the flounder and wishing for a better cottage. Out of fear of his wife, he cried out, "Little man, little man, Timpe Te, flounder, flounder in the sea, my wife Ilsebill doesn't want what I want." The wish was granted. But Ilseb wished for more and more. So the poor fisherman had to call the flounder again and again. With each wish, the weather worsened. She wished more and more: to have a castle, to be rich, a queen, an empress, and a pope. All her wishes were granted. Then she even wished to be like God. When the fisherman returned home after this wish, the woman was back in her old hut.

Play as a fisherman and fulfill the woman's wishes, become rich, build a castle, and when you have the Royalty Pack, become king and make her queen.
Or get a divorce, rescue the fish, and live happily ever after with the prince.
Little Red Riding Hood

Once upon a time, there lived a girl who loved the color red. Her grandmother gave her a red cap, which she always wore, and so she was soon called Little Red Riding Hood. One day, her mother sent her into the forest to bring food to her sick grandmother. The mother warned her to stay on the path. In the forest, the girl met a wolf with whom she chatted. He asked her questions and told her about a meadow full of flowers. So she decided to deviated from her path to pick a bouquet of flowers for Grandma. Meanwhile, the wolf rushed to Grandma's house, ate her, put on her nightgown, and lay down in her bed. Little Red Riding Hood didn't recognize the wolf but asked, "Grandmother, why do you have such big eyes?" To which the wolf replied, "So I can see you better." Then Little Red Riding Hood asked, "Grandmother, why do you have such big ears?" "So I can hear you better." When the girl asked, "Grandmother, why do you have such a big mouth?" the wolf jumped up and shouted, "So I can eat you better!" which he then did. Luckily, a hunter came by who freed the two from the wolf's stomach and filled it with stones instead. This prevented the wolf from escaping, and he died.

Go with Little Red Riding Hood to Grandma's and cure the werewolf disease.
The Seven Little Goats

Once upon a time, there lived a mother goat with seven little goats. The mother had to leave the house to go shopping, but warned her children not to let anyone in. After the children were alone, the wolf knocked on the door. They asked who it was and recognized from the wolf's rough voice that it wasn't their mother. So they didn't open the door.
Then the wolf ate chalk, which softened his voice. But this time his dark paw betrayed him. So the wolf went to the miller and had his paw first coated with dough and then dusted with flour. That way he could deceived the little goats and was let into the house. There he ate 6 little goats, one of the kids managed to hide in the grandfather clock. When the mother returned home, the little goat came out of its hiding place and told her what had happened. They found the wolf sleeping in the meadow. The mother got sewing supplies and cut open the wolf's belly with scissors to free the kids. She had her children collect stones, which she then sewed into the wolf's belly. When the wolf went to drink at the well, he fell in under the weight of the stones.

Once upon a time, there lived siblings who were beaten daily by their stepmother. So, brother and sister fled into the forest. There they found a spring and the little brother drank from it. However, the wicked stepmother had bewitched the spring. So the Little Brother was transformed into a deer. When the king went hunting in the forest, Little Brother wanted to join him. In the evening, he asked to be let in with the phrase, "My little sister, let me in." On the second evening, he injured his foot, and a hunter who had been following him overheard the phrase and told the king. On the third evening, the king came to the door with the phrase. He brought the sister home as his bride, along with the deer. After the wedding, Little Sister had a child. The stepmother disguised herself and murdered the queen, switching her with her own daughter, which the king didn't notice. But Little Sister's ghost still cared for the child and the deer, which was noticed by a maid she than informed the king about this. The king then spoke to the spirit, whereupon she came back to life. The stepmother and stepsister were judged. The little brother was also redeemed. If they haven't died, they are still living today.

The Twelve Dancing Princesses

Once upon a time, there was a king who had 12 daughters. Every morning were the daughters' shoes outworn. He wanted to find out why and promised one of his daughters as a bride to whoever found out, the suitorseach would stay 3 Nights around to find the truth or had to die.
Many tried to solve the riddle, but fell asleep and failed. Then a poor, wounded soldier came along, who had previously received a cloak of invisibility from an old woman and the advice not to drink the eldest sister's evening drink. With the cloak, he was able to follow the princesses unnoticed into the underground castle at night. There, they danced every night with enchanted princes to free them. He reported this to the king, won his bride, and the princes were once again cursed.

Once upon a time, there lived a king and queen who had seven sons. They longed for a daughter. Finally, the queen gave birth to a girl, but the baby was very weak and sickly. So the father sent one of the princes with a jug to the spring to fetch water for an emergency baptism. The other brothers accompanied the prince, but at the spring, they argued, and the jug fell into the well. Therefore, they did not dared to return home. At home, the despairing king waited a long time until he finally grew angry, thinking the boys had forgotten their chores while playing. He said, "I wish all the boys would turn into ravens!" This thoughtless wish was immediately granted, and he saw seven ravens flying overhead. Fortunately, the girl recovered and grew up without knowing she had ever had brothers. Only many years later did she learn about what had happened. She felt guilty and set out to find her brothers. On her journey, the princess took only one of her parents' rings and a small chair with her. She searched all over the world until the end and came to the sun. But the sun was much too hot and ate children. The moon was too cold and said, "I smell, I smell human flesh." But the stars were friendly. The morning star told her that the brothers were in the Glass Mountain and gave her a chicken bone to unlock it. When the girl arrived at the Glass Mountain, she tried to unlock it but had lost the bone, so she cut off her finger to use it to open the door. Inside the mountain, she met a dwarf who told her the ravens weren't home. He set the table with seven plates and cups. The hungry girl ate a little of everything and dropped her parents' ring into one of the cups and hid behind a door. When the ravens returned to eat, they cawed, "Who ate from my little plate? Who drank from my little cup? It had been a person's mouth." When the ring was found, the oldest said “Well, if only our little sister were here, then we would be saved!" With that, the princess emerged from her hiding place, thus freeing the princes. The siblings happily returned home, and if they hadn't died, then they still are alive today.

Once upon a time, there lived a poor orphan girl who set out into the world alone. Along her journey, she gave away her few possessions: her last piece of bread, her cap, and even her clothes to those in need. When the girl had nothing left, suddenly star coins fell from the sky, and she had a little dress with which she could collect the coins. She was now rich.

Once upon a time, there lived a miller who met the king. Wanting to show off a little, he told the king that his daughter could spin hay into gold. So the king fetched the daughter and locked her in a room full of hay, ordering her to spin it into gold or die. The miller's daughter wept bitterly until finally a little man appeared and promised to do the job for her if she would give him her necklace. So the girl gave him her necklace, and the little man spun the gold. The same thing happened on the second night, but this time the girl paid with her ring. On the third night, the king promised her marriage if she would spin the gold. This time she had nothing left to give the little man, but he demanded her firstborn child. She was so desperate that she agreed. That night, too, the gold was spun, and as promised, the king took her as his wife. When the queen gave birth to her child, the little man came to fulfill the promise and take the child. The mother pleaded and offered all the riches of the kingdom, but the male wanted the child. He gave her three days to guess his name, and then she would be allowed to keep her baby. On the first night, the little man came, and the queen called out all the names she could think of. On the second night, she called out all the names she had asked her subjects. Then she heard from a messenger who had seen a little man in the forest dancing around a fire and singing, "Today I bake, tomorrow I brew, the day after tomorrow I'll fetch the queen's child; oh, how good that no one knows that I am called Rumpelstiltskin!" On the third night, the queen first asked if the little man's name was Kurt, then Heinz, and then Rumpelstiltskin. The little man was so angry that she have solved the riddle that he had torn himself apart. The queen was now able to keep her child, and if they haven't died, they are still alive today.

Play as the miller's daughter, locking her in a cell in the castle, and earning enough money through embroidery and/or knitting for the castle to pay taxes. Then she will be allowed to marry the king.
Sleeping Beauty

Once upon a time, there lived a king and queen who longed for a child. Finally, the queen gave birth to a girl. Twelve fairies were invited to the christening to bestow gifts such as beauty and happiness upon the child. However, one old fairy was not invited because they did not have enough gold plates. Instead of the other fairies' blessings, this fairy cursed the child to prick her finger on a spindle and die. But one of the younger fairies had not yet spoken her wish and was able to soften the curse to a hundred-year sleep, from which a prince could awaken her. The king immediately issued a decree banishing all spindles from the land. Fifteen years later, the princess found an old woman in a castle tower, pricking.The friendly old woman asked her if she would like to try it, but when the princess grasped the spindle, she pricked her finger and collapsed to the ground. The sleeping beauty was carried to a bed. One of the good fairies then enchanted everyone in the castle to fall asleep as well, so that the girl wouldn't be alone when she awoke. She also made thorn bushes grow around the castle so that the sleepers wouldn't be disturbed.
People told stories of the beautiful sleeping princess in the castle, whom they called Dornröschen (German for thorn rose). Many princes tried to enter the castle but died in the thorns. After 100 years, a brave prince came, for whom the thorns eluded him and turned into flowers. He found Sleeping Beauty and kissed her. She awoke, and with her, the entire castle. A wedding was celebrated, and if they haven't died, they are still living today.
