To try out the new objects from that huge update, I started to make a house with just base game (plus some things from the current event).

While the inspo had a floor plan, I'm not a square person, so I didn't follow it completely. The upper floor got cut in favor of the exterior, which made the build quite small, even after I switched to a bigger lot. It was hard to make it look good, but that's nothing a bunch of plants can't solve.

Due to budget not being a concern, I placed mirrors behind the windows of the fake floor, which made them more interesting to look at. Tool mod helped, but it still took quite some time to get it just right, especially after I switched the windows of the back for smaller ones.

I really wanted to make the kitchen yellow, but most other yellow swatches from base game don't look nearly as good, so it ended up standing out too much and had to be changed to a more neutral color. In contrast, the living room went from having neutral walls to blue, in order for the build name to make more sense.

Honestly, I was disappointed with the "huge base game update", in regards to the build/buy. First, they said 70+ items, but only 29 are for build mode (+16 if you count all kitchen variations). It came with 6 doors, 6 windows, 1 wallpaper, 3 floors, 1 column, 1 spandrel, 1 light in all 3 heights, 1 cuter jungle gym, 1 kitchen set (counters+cabinets+island piece) with 1 matching bar, 1 fireplace, 1 "brick rug" and 1 piece of art with 8 unique swatches.

Considering the previous swatch update was more exterior oriented as well, I was hoping for more furniture for this one. The kitchen is amazing, but it didn't came with a matching sink/stove/fridge; while the windows don't have the wood swatches that are present in the doors and lack a variant that covers the entire wall. The painting is also a set of 3, instead of being separated, and has random sims pictured.
