Big Happy Family

Description from the "Official" Site

Jace was a strapping boy, who grew to become a handsome teenager. Like his brothers, Lucerys and Joffrey, he had brown hair and eyes, and a pug nose. This made many at court suspect that Ser Harwin Strong, the sworn shield of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, was the brothers' true father.

Responsible, bold, and politically savvy, Jace was protective of his family. Jacaerys became skilled at arms by serving as a squire.

Jacaerys arranged for the safety of his half brothers, Aegon, nine, and Viserys, seven, by reaching out to the Prince of Pentos, who agreed to foster the boys. Near the end of 129 AC, Aegon and Viserys boarded the Gay Abandon to set sail for Pentos, but in the Gullet the ship ran into a fleet of warships sent by the Triarchy, allies of the greens, with Gay Abandon captured and its escort ships sunk or taken. Aegon the Younger escaped on his dragon Stormcloud to Dragonstone to tell the blacks of the attack, however.

In the ensuing Battle of the Gullet, Jacaerys and four dragonseeds attacked the Triarchy's fleet with dragonflame. An easy victory for the blacks seemed at hand, until Vermax flew too low, possibly wounded from a crossbow bolt to the eye or pulled down by a grapnel, and crashed into a burning galley. Jacaerys lept free and clung to the smoking wreckage of the ship, but was struck by Myrish crossbow quarrels until he sank into the sea. The Velaryon fleet managed to push back the Triarchy's warships, but Driftmark was sacked by the Essosi soldiers during the battle.

Description from the "Official" Site

Luke was a strong strapping lad, skilled in arms. Like his brothers Jacaerys and Joffrey, he had brown eyes and hair, and a pug nose.

Lucerys was thirteen years old at the start of the civil war, and had long served as a squire. His dragon, Arrax, was thriving, and growing every year. At Rhaenyra's first black council on Dragonstone, Lucerys and his brother Jacaerys volunteered to serve as her envoys to the lords of Westeros to raise support for her claim, and to show their legitimacy as Targaryens by riding on dragons. Rhaenyra allowed this, but she first made her young sons swear on The Seven-Pointed Star that they would not take part in any fighting.

Lucerys, as the younger son, was sent on a mission that was considered shorter and safer than his brother Jacaerys's, flying on Arrax as a messenger to Storm's End, where it was expected that Lord Borros Baratheon would give him a warm welcome. However, Prince Aemond Targaryen had already arrived at the castle on Vhagar, to acquire Borros's allegiance to his brother King Aegon II, by agreeing to marry one of Borros's four daughters. In the Round Hall, Aemond loudly greeted Lucerys as "Little Luke Strong, the bastard", and asked if he was wet from the rain or if he had pissed himself. Luke ignored Aemond's insults, and delivered his letter to Borros.

Before Luke could leave, Aemond drew his sword, and told him he owed him a debt he now had to pay. Aemond revealed the sapphire he wore in the place of his missing eye, and told Luke to put out his own eye, and he would let him go. Lucerys refused to fight him, telling him he came as an envoy, not a knight, but Aemond demanded Luke's eye or his life. At this, Lord Borros intervened, not wanting the blood of envoys to be shed under his roof, and his guards escorted Lucerys back to the castle yard, where Arrax waited amidst a terrible storm. When Borros's daughter Maris taunted Aemond, asking him if Lucerys had removed his balls as well as his eye, Aemond became enraged. When he asked Borros's leave to go, Borros told Aemond that he had no say about what he did while not underneath Borros's roof, and allowed him to depart.

As Aemond mounted Vhagar and went after Luke, Arrax was struggling to stay aloft in the storm. Arrax was younger and swifter, and on a calm day might have been able to outfly his pursuer, but the weather impeded him, and Vhagar was five times the size of her foe and the hardened survivor of a hundred battles. The two dragons met above Shipbreaker Bay. According to Archmaester Gyldayn, if there was a fight, it could not have lasted long. Arrax fell, broken, to be swallowed by the storm-lashed waters of the bay. His head and neck washed up beneath the cliffs below Storm's End three days later. Prince Lucerys's body was never found.

Description from the "Official" Site

Joff was a strapping lad. Like his brothers Jacaerys and Lucerys, he had brown eyes and hair, and a pug nose.

When Joffrey was three years old, his ten-year-old dragonless half-uncle, Prince Aemond Targaryen, slapped him in an attempt to claim Vhagar for himself. Joffrey called for his two older brothers, and in the ensuing fight, Aemond lost an eye.

Joffrey was eleven years old at the start of the civil war which became known as the Dance of the Dragons. He asked to ride Tyraxes and help call the lords of the realm to his mother's claim, but was denied on account of his age. However, his elder brothers went forth, and Jacaerys arranged his betrothal to the youngest daughter of Lord Desmond Manderly in exchange for White Harbor's support for the blacks. After learning that Lucerys had died in the Dance over Shipbreaker Bay, Joffrey swore a terrible oath of vengeance against Prince Aemond and Lord Borros Baratheon, and only his grandparents, Lord Corlys Velaryon and Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, kept him from mounting his own dragon at once.

Joffrey was eager to prove himself as a warrior and defeat the armies of the greens, but swore solemnly to help his mother hold the Red Keep in the event of an attack when told to remain in the city with Tyraxes. During the Storming of the Dragonpit, he donned squire's armor and begged the queen to let him ride to the Dragonpit and mount Tyraxes, but she forbade him from leaving the castle out of her grief for his brothers' deaths. When the Shepherd and his savage flock began to march on the Dragonpit, he pleaded with his mother to let him ride forth with knights, anxious for the life of his own dragon, though Rhaenyra refused to believe that such rabble would be able to kill the dragons.

When the watchers on the roof heard Syrax's roar, they realized that Joffrey was missing, and the queen sent the knights later known as the Seven Who Rode after the prince, demanding that they bring him back, as he "did not know". Once in the air, Syrax twisted beneath him, fighting to be free of her unfamiliar rider, and stones and spears flew at him from the Shepherd's lambs below. He plunged down into Flea Bottom from 200 feet above, crashing into a steep-pitched roof before rolling off to fall another 40 feet amidst a shower of broken tiles. The fall broke his back, shards of slate rained down him like knives, and his own sword tore loose from his hand and pierced him through the belly. According to legend, a candlemaker's daughter named Robin comforted him as he died, and his last words were "Mother, forgive me".

The mob descended on Joffrey's corpse, and looters tore the boots from his feet and the sword from his belly. More savage rioters tore at his body, cutting off his hands so that the rings on his fingers may be claimed; his right foot was hacked through the ankle, and a butcher's apprentice was sawing at his neck to claim his head when the seven knights arrived. His remains were reclaimed, aside from his foot, although some men were killed trying to retrieve the body. His half-brother, Aegon the Younger, became his mother's heir following his death.
