The Sims 4 gives players powerful tools to create families, legacies, dynasties, royal houses, fantasy bloodlines, and deep stories — but then cuts those stories short with a restrictive name limit.

Royal titles, compound surnames, noble houses, long fantasy names, and legacy lineages should not be forced to fit inside a small vanilla text box.

ÐarkLord Longer Names was created to fix that. With this mod, your Sims can carry longer, richer, more imposing names and titles — without forcing you to fight the game every time you want to preserve your story.

🌑 What This Mod Does

ÐarkLord Longer Names expands the name limits used by the Live Mode rename system. You can give your Sims longer first names, royal prefixes, titles, compound surnames, noble family names, fantasy names, and legacy-style names that would normally be cut short by the vanilla game.

Examples:

• First name: HRH Princess Alexandra Victoria

• Last name: von Ravenshire de la Couronne de Versailles

If your story needs a name with weight, the game should not be the thing stopping you.

🛡️ The Guardian System

The Sims 4 CAS still enforces vanilla restrictions. Instead of aggressively rewriting CAS itself — which would be unstable and highly likely to break with official game patches — this mod uses a safer, architectural approach.

ÐarkLord Longer Names includes a Guardian system. The Guardian remembers the long names you assign through the mod and watches for cases where the game shortens or alters them.

If CAS or the vanilla engine cuts a saved long name, the Guardian automatically intercepts the event and restores the Sim’s true saved name after returning to Live Mode.

The Guardian does not fight the game recklessly. It waits. It watches. It restores.

🔥 What Is New In Version 1.5?

• Massive Surname Expansion (Up to 70 Characters): Surnames have been unlocked even further. The last name limit has been raised from 48 to 70 characters through the mod's dialog box, allowing for massive, multi-part aristocratic house names and deep lineage tracking.

• Hardened Post-CAS Reapplication: The transition logic from CAS back to Live Mode has been completely overhauled. The Guardian now intercepts the zone-load state with higher precision, ensuring that any visual shortening enforced by CAS is overridden and corrected instantly once the simulation stabilizes.

• Strengthened Guardian Memory: The underlying database framework has been reinforced. Long names committed to memory are now preserved with bulletproof reliability across save cycles and game restarts.

• Manual Control: Includes direct pie-menu options to Reapply Saved Name or Forget Saved Name whenever you want to override the automatic cycles.

🎮 How To Use

For best results, avoid editing long names directly inside CAS. Instead, manage your names entirely from Live Mode:

1. Click on the Sim you want to rename.

2. Select: Longer Names > Rename Sim.

3. Enter the desired first name (including titles if needed).

4. Enter the desired last name (up to 70 characters).

5. Confirm and save your game normally.

If you enter CAS later for appearance edits, simply exit back to Live Mode and allow the Guardian a few moments to automatically re-apply the correct saved name.

⚠️ Important Notes

CAS belongs to the vanilla game and will still visually enforce its own tiny limits while you are inside editing clothes or looks. This is normal. The safest workflow is: Rename via mod in Live Mode ➔ Edit looks in CAS ➔ Return to Live Mode ➔ Let the Guardian restore the name.

📦 Installation

1. Download the .zip file and extract it.

2. Place the mod files directly into your Mods folder: Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods

3. Ensure that Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed are checked in your game options.

4. Restart the game.
